Dr Upendra Shekhawat brings over two decades of experience spanning agricultural biotechnology, regulatory science, and public sector R&D leadership across Australia and India, grounded in a strong commitment to real-world impact. His career has evolved from early research at Department of Atomic Energy [Govt of India] to leading translational crop innovation and policy engagement, including contributions to landmark initiatives such as the deregulation of Panama TR4-resistant genetically modified banana in Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane. Prior to joining Monash MAE, he held a senior position within the Northern Territory Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, where he led diverse teams and partnerships to deliver practical, industry-focused solutions in horticulture and sustainable agriculture.
