Fernando Auat Cheein is Professor of Engineering and Director of the Harper Institute of Technology at Harper Adams University, UK. He is a Fellow of both the Institution of Agricultural Engineers and the Royal Society of Biology, and IEEE Senior Member. His research spans agricultural robotics, autonomous machinery, LiDAR-based perception, digital twins, and AI-driven safety certification — areas at the heart of the cyber-farming agenda. He has published 150+ journal articles, several patents and serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Field Robotics, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, and Biosystems Engineering. He brings to the ARC Cyber-Farming Hub a unique combination of hands-on field robotics expertise and rigorous standards-led certification, with a shared ambition to accelerate the safe deployment of autonomous systems across UK and South America agriculture.
